What is the CLEAR ZONE?

A zone created by Nottingham City Council (www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk) to limit access by traffic, and to improve pedestrian access, and the quality of the environment.

Fine. The benefits are obvious, welcome and proving effective.............BUT AT WHAT COST AND INCONVENIENCE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC AND BUSINESS'S THAT CONTRIBUTE TO THE SUCCESS OF THE CITY?

The PH trade would like to provide access into the city for customers 24 hours / 7 days a week. At the moment, our services are *BANNED BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 8-00 A.M. AND 6-00 P.M. *Excluding the carriage of Blue Badge holders.

Why do we require access? (We have always provided access, into an from until 2002).

(2)   To assist the shopping public.  (Including those with temporary and permanent disabilities)

HACKNEY SERVICES FROM COUNCILS OUTSIDE NOTTINGHAM  ARE PERMITTED ACCESS

THE PUBLIC ARE BEING RESTRICTED FROM THE CHOICE OF TRANSPORT THEY WISH TO USE. IF YOU REQUIRE A 'TAXI' FROM THE CITY CENTRE, CLEAR ZONE, YOU MUST USE A HACKNEY SERVICE! Many people would prefer to use the Private Hire trade, as they do at other times.
